Following the Holidays, and the overindulgence that we have all enjoyed, our minds naturally turn todieting. This isn’t to say that the idea behind a detox diet is wrong-headed. We all consume more than our fair share of unhealthy foods and alcohol, leaving us with a surfeit of toxins in the body. These toxins, present in fatty foods and alcohol, can build up in the body and lead tofree-radical damage, which contributes to aging and promotes disease. So it is a perfectly natural response to want to take steps to rid ourselves of the unhealthy remnants of over-indulgence. But chasing the latest fad, such as drinking only tea for a week while abstaining from solids, is not the best route to take if you are truly interested in making a positive impact on your health.
